Ingredients
- 8 slices Bread
- 1 x 420g tin Baked beans, drained well in a sieve
- 150g Cheddar, grated; vegetarian-friendly
- 40g Butter, softened
You’ll need: Sandwich press or frying pan
Method
Butter one side of each slice of bread. Turn 4 slices butter-side down. Pile the cheese along the edges of each slice, then spoon the beans into the middle so the cheese seals them in. Do not overfill.
Cover with the remaining bread, butter-side up, and press the edges together.
Sandwich press: cook for 3–4 minutes until golden and the cheese melts. Frying pan: cook over medium-low heat for 3–4 minutes each side, pressing down gently, until golden. Cook 2 at a time.
Let cool for 2 minutes (the beans are very hot), cut in half and serve.

Best eaten straight away.
