Ingredients
- 30g Butter
- ¼ cup Plain flour, about 30g
- 400ml Milk
- 1 cup Tasty cheese, about 100g, grated
- Black pepper, to taste
You’ll need: Saucepan, Whisk
Method
Melt the butter in a saucepan over low–medium heat. Add the flour and stir for 1 minute, until bubbling.
Add the milk a splash at a time, whisking until smooth after each addition.
Cook over medium heat, stirring, until the sauce bubbles and thickens, about 3 minutes.
Take off the heat. Stir in the cheese until melted and smooth. Do not boil it after adding the cheese or it can turn grainy.
Season with pepper. Taste before adding salt, as cheese is already salty.
Storage
Fridge up to 2 days. Reheat gently with a splash of milk, stirring, until piping hot.
