Kosher Cookies: The Perfect Treat for Shabbat

Cookies are perhaps the most beloved of all desserts, and when you combine them with the traditional flavors of kosher deli menus, you get a brilliantly delicious treat that’s sure to please. Ingredients

– 2 cups of all-purpose flour
– 1 cup of light brown sugar
– ¾ cup of unsalted butter
– 1 teaspoon of baking powder

– ¼ teaspoon of ground cloves
– ¼ teaspoon of ground ginger
– ¼ teaspoon of ground allspice

Method

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease two baking sheets.
2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, allspice and nutmeg.
3. In a separate large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
4. Beat in the eggs one at a time until the mixture is thick and creamy.
5. Using a wooden spoon, stir in the dry ingredients and then the currants until the dough is evenly combined.
6. Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on the baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between them.
7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown. Let cool before serving.
