Ingredients
- 4 Eggs, medium or large, straight from the fridge
- enough to cover the eggs Water
You’ll need: Saucepan, Timer
Method
Bring a saucepan of water to a rolling boil.
Lower the eggs in gently with a spoon. Reduce to a steady simmer and set a timer straight away.
Cook for 6 minutes for a runny yolk and just-set white (7 minutes for a jammy, thicker yolk).
Lift out with a spoon. Run under cold water for 20 seconds to stop the cooking, then serve in egg cups, tapping the top to crack and slice off.
Storage
Best eaten straight away; runny yolks aren't suited to storing. Cook yolks firm for young children, pregnant women, older people or anyone unwell.
