Creamy Walnut Chicken – A Chinese Food Masterpiece!

Chinese food has a rich and diverse culinary culture that has been beloved for centuries. From the subtle spice of Szechuan cuisine to the salty-sweetness of Cantonese dishes, it seems like every region has their own style and flavour. Today, I’d like to share a unique recipe featuring walnuts, chicken and creamy sauces, inspired by all of those flavours: Creamy Walnut Chicken.

This recipe is like a warm hug from the East, with a mix of unique ingredients and careful precisions. Walnuts lend a subtle crunch, while the creamy sauce locks in that flavour and adds an irresistibly savoury-creamy taste.

Ingredients:

-1 pound chicken breast, diced
-4 tablespoons butter
-5 cloves garlic, diced
-1 teaspoon soy sauce
-1/2 cup chicken broth
-1/4 cup white wine
-1/2 cup chopped walnuts
-1/2 cup sour cream
-2 tablespoons chopped chives
-Salt and pepper, to taste

Method:

1. Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
2. Once hot, add the diced chicken and cook for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through.
3. Add the garlic and soy sauce and stir to combine.
4. Pour in the chicken broth and white wine and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
5. Add the walnuts and sour cream, reduce the heat to low, and let simmer for 2 minutes.
6. Remove from heat, stir in the chives, season with salt and pepper, and serve.

This Creamy Walnut Chicken is a delicious combination of sweet, savoury and textural elements. The unique mix of ingredients make this one of the most unique Chinese dishes I’ve tried, and the creamy sauce ties together the chicken, the walnuts, and all of the tastes and textures. Plus, because of the simple ingredients it’s easy to whip up in minutes – what more could you ask for?

If you’re looking for another way to enjoy Chinese cuisine, give Creamy Walnut Chicken a try, and use it as a jumping off point to discover even more flavours from the East!
