American Cheeseburger Recipe

Few dishes are as classic as the American cheeseburger, beloved by diners everywhere. This all-American favorite is great for backyard barbecue parties, or just a summertime dinner. Burgers are seriously easy to make, so don’t be intimidated if this is your first time grilling them! All you need is quality ground beef, cheese, and your favorite toppings. Here’s our simple and delicious recipe for a classic American cheeseburger.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef (80/20 mix)
  • 8 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, etc..)
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices of tomato
  • 4 slices of lettuce
  • 4 tablespoons of mayonnaise
  • 4 teaspoons of mustard
  • 4 tablespoons of ketchup

Instructions:

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the skillet is hot, add the ground beef and break it into small pieces as it browns.
  • Once the ground beef has cooked through, use a slotted spoon to transfer it to a bowl.
  • In the same skillet, add 4 burger buns and lightly toast until golden. Place each bun on a plate.
  • Divide the beef into 4 equal portions, rolling each portion into a ball and pressing it down with your hands to form a patty.
  • Place the patty on the bun and top with 1 slice of cheese. Let the cheese melt for about 1 minute.
  • Add your favorite toppings and condiments—tomato, lettuce, mayonnaise, mustard, and ketchup. Place the remaining half of the bun on top to complete your burger.

And there you have it! Complement your burger with crispy fries and an ice-cold beverage for a truly classic all-American meal.
