Spanish Tortilla Española Recipe

Spainish Tortilla Española is one of the most traditional Spanish dishes, and it’s perfect for a quick, easy and delicious meal. This classic potato omelet is filled with flavor and is sure to become a crowd favorite.


• 2 tablespoons olive oil

• 1 large onion, chopped

• 5 potatoes, peeled and sliced into ¼ inch thick rounds

• 6 eggs, lightly beaten

• Salt and pepper to taste


1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

2. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5 minutes.

3. Add the potatoes and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are tender and golden, about 15 minutes.

4. Reduce the heat to low and season with salt and pepper.

5. Pour the eggs over the potatoes and onion, stirring until the eggs are lightly scrambled, about 3 minutes.

6. Place a plate over the skillet and carefully flip it over, creating a cake-like shape with the potatoes on top.

7. Slide the tortilla back into the skillet and cook over low heat until the bottom is golden brown and the eggs are set, about 5 minutes.
