Ingredients
- 500g Beef mince
- 60g Breadcrumbs
- 1 Egg
- 1 small Onion, finely grated
- 2 cloves Garlic, crushed
- 1 tsp Dried oregano
- 30g Parmesan, finely grated
- 1 tbsp Olive oil
- 700g Passata
- Salt and black pepper
You’ll need: Large deep frying pan with lid
Method
Mix the mince, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, half the garlic, oregano, parmesan, 1 tsp salt and pepper in a bowl with your hands. Roll into about 20 balls.
Heat the oil in a large deep frying pan over medium-high heat. Brown the meatballs in batches for 4–5 minutes, turning, then return them all to the pan.
Add the passata, remaining garlic and a pinch of salt. Bring to a gentle simmer, cover and cook for 12–15 minutes, turning once, until the meatballs are cooked through with no pink inside.
Serve with pasta, mash or crusty bread.
Storage
Cool and refrigerate within 2 hours. Keeps up to 2 days, or freeze up to 3 months. Reheat until piping hot all the way through.
