Navajo Cake Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 2/3 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1/2 cup honey

Instructions

For the Cake:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, sour cream, butter, and vanilla extract until smooth. Slowly add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring to combine.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if desired).
  5. Pour the batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
For the Frosting:

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey and butter until light and fluffy.
