Mediterranean Hummus Recipe
Hummus is a Middle Eastern spread made of chickpeas and tahini, and is a staple in many Mediterranean diets. This traditional hummus recipe marries the savory and sweet flavors of the region while delivering a healthy yet delicious dip or spread.
Ingredients:
- 1 can chickpeas (15.5 oz), drained and rinsed
- 4 tablespoons tahini
- 4 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
- In a food processor, blend the chickpeas until smooth.
- Add the tahini, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil and water to the chickpeas and continue to blend until smooth.
- Add the cumin, salt and pepper, and blend until everything is incorporated.
- Taste and adjust seasonings to your liking.
- Serve with warm pita or bagel chips or spread on your favorite sandwich.
