Delightfully Delicious Kamut Bread Recipe

  • 3 ½ cups of Kamut grain
  • 2 teaspoons of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of active dry or instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 ½ cups of warm water
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil (for glazing)


  1. Stir together warm water, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl and set aside for 10 minutes.
  2. Once the yeast has had time to activate, whisk in the salt and Kamut grain and knead for about 8 minutes.
  3. After kneading, form the dough into a round loaf and place into a greased dutch oven.
  4. Let rise for 60 minutes, then brush the top with olive oil and bake in a preheated oven at 425F (220C) for 15 minutes.
  5. Reduce the oven temperature to 400F (200C) and bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the loaf has reached 200F (90C).
