Indian Paneer Butter Masala Recipe

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 3 cloves of garlic minced
  • 1-2 green chili peppers, stemmed, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 large chopped tomato
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 1/2 pound paneer cubed


  1. In a large pan, heat the butter over medium-high heat. Add the cumin and stir for 30 seconds.
  2. Add the onion, garlic and chili peppers. Cook for 5 minutes or until the onion is translucent.
  3. Add the garam masala, coriander, turmeric, chopped tomato and salt. Cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Pour in the heavy cream and let the mixture simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Add the cubed paneer and let it simmer for 10 minutes or until the sauce thickens.
  6. Serve with rice or flatbread. Enjoy!
