Ingredients List:

  • 1 lb. bacon or ham, diced or cut into strips
  • 3 cans of pork and beans
  • 1/2 cup light molasses
  • 1/2 cup barbeque sauce
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 1/4 cup catsup
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: 1/4 cup brown sugar (if desired)
  • Optional: 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce (if desired)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a large skillet, over low heat, fry the bacon until partially cooked. Drain off most of the fat and add the diced onion to the skillet. Cook just until the bacon and onion are beginning to brown.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the pork and beans, molasses, barbeque sauce, catsup and optional brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well and add salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Fold the bacon and onion mixture into the bowl of beans. Mix until all is well combined.
  5. Transfer the beans to a 13×9 inch baking dish. Smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Check periodically to make sure the beans do not get too dry. Add a little water to the top, if needed, to keep them moist.
  7. Turn off oven and allow beans to cool before serving. Enjoy!
