French Madeleines Recipe

Have you ever tasted the delicious French madeleines cakes? Nothing tastes better than these bite-sized cakes with a distinctive shell-like shape and a wonderfully sweet, buttery flavour. Making them is quite easy, too! Follow the steps of this simple recipe, and you’ll be enjoying homemade madeleines in no time.

Ingredients:

– 1/2 cup (115g) butter, melted
– 3/4 cup (150g) sugar
– 2 eggs, room temperature
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 1 teaspoon baking powder
– 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
– Zest of 1 lemon

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350ºF (177ºC). Grease and flour a 12-cup madeleine pan.

2. In a medium bowl, beat together the melted butter and sugar until smooth.

3. Add the eggs and beat until light and creamy. Stir in the vanilla extract, salt, and baking powder.

4. Gradually add the flour and lemon zest, and mix until just combined.

5. Spoon the batter into the prepared madeleine pan and bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

6. Cool for 5 minutes before using a thin metal spatula to remove the madeleines from the pan. Serve warm or cool. Enjoy!
