Delicious Dirty Chai Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup ground cinnamon-sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (176°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until light and creamy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until combined.
  3. Add in the cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves, black pepper, and salt. Beat until it is all combined.
  4. In a small bowl, stir together the baking powder and flour. Add to the wet ingredients and mix until all incorporated. Stit in the rolled oats and chocolate chips.
  5. Drop the dough by rounded tablespoons onto an ungreased baking sheet. Roll each cookie ball into the ground cinnamon-sugar before putting it onto the baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until the edges of the cookies are lightly golden. Be sure not to over bake. Allow to cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
