Chicago Mild Sauce Recipe

This mild sauce recipe will give your dishes that delicious great Chicago taste without making them too spicy. The recipe makes enough sauce for four people, so it’s perfect for a dinner party.

Ingredients

-2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
-1/4 cup butter
-1/4 cup yellow onion, diced
-2 cloves garlic, minced
-1/4 cup white wine
-1/2 cup chicken broth
-1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
-1/2 teaspoon oregano
-1 tablespoon fresh basil, finely chopped
-1 teaspoon sugar
-2 tablespoons freshly grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

1. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.

2. Add onions and garlic and cook for 3 minutes until softened.

3. Add the flour and stir constantly, cooking for 1 minute.

4. Add the white wine and chicken broth, whisking until incorporated.

5. Add the red pepper flakes, oregano, basil, and sugar and stir to combine.

6. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes.

7. Add the parmesan cheese and stir until combined.

8. Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if necessary.
