  1. Heat the oven to 350°F. Grease and line three 8-inch round or 9-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and baking soda; set aside.
  3. In the bowl of an electric mixer on medium speed, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Beat in the vanilla.
  4. With the mixer on low speed, add half of the flour mixture, beating until just combined. Beat in the warm milk, then the remaining flour mixture.

    Add the second layer of cake on top and spread with a layer of frosting. Add the third layer of cake and spread the remaining frosting over the entire cake.
