Bread Changed: An Unforgettable Sweet and Soft Sourdough Loaf

Do you ever daydream about the perfect loaf – that fragrant, sweet and fluffy bread that melts in your mouth? Well, today is your lucky day, because I’m here to share with you my “Bread Changed” recipe, a traditional sourdough recipe that is guaranteed to please!

You may think that sourdough baking is too challenging, but let me quiet those fears right away by telling you that this recipe has been simplified, so that you can enjoy that same delectable, homemade bakery-style bread in a fraction of the time and effort. With just a few simple ingredients and some simple steps, you’ll have a rustic and flavorful loaf that, I must warn you, is bound to be gobbled up quickly.

What makes this recipe unique is its combination of texture and flavor. The bread is pleasantly soft and fluffy, with just the perfect hint of tanginess from the sourdough starter. I made mine with a combination of white and wholegrain flour, and the end result was a beautiful golden crust, with a soft and light crumb inside. It’s much better than your typical store-bought bread, and it will remind you of the comforting, old-fashioned flavor of handcrafted artisan breads.

Ingredients:

– 200 g strong white flour
– 200 g wholegrain flour
– 300 g sourdough starter
– 10 g salt
– 300 g water

Method:

1. In a large bowl, combine the white flour, wholegrain flour, salt, and sourdough starter and mix thoroughly.

2. Slowly add in the water to achieve a soft dough-like consistency. Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes.

3. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover tightly with cling film, and leave in a warm place to rise for 8-12 hours, until doubled in size.

4. Turn the dough onto a floured work surface and shape into a ball. Place it in a greased loaf tin, cover it with cling film, and leave it to rise again, for another 1-2 hours.

5. Preheat the oven to 220°C.

6. Remove the cling film, spray the top of the loaf with water and bake for 40-45 minutes.

7. Remove the loaf from the tin and leave to cool on a wire rack.

Voilà! In just a few easy steps, you have a delicious, melt-in-your-mouth sourdough loaf that will make your mouth water. Serve it with butter and jam or go the savory route and pair with your favorite cheese or deli meats.

This classic recipe is inspired by the traditional method of making sourdough bread, with the addition of some modern twists. My version of the recipe is a unique combination of European and Asian traditions – it has the subtle notes of fermented dough and the crisp crust that accompanies sourdough loaves, but with a softer and lighter crumb that allows it to be eaten fresh without toasting.

The nuanced flavor of this bread makes it both comforting and exciting – it’s a guaranteed crowd-pleaser and the perfect accompaniment to any meal. So cut yourself a slice, slather on some butter, and enjoy the simple pleasure of a perfect loaf of sweet and soft sourdough. Bon appétit!
